“Fabulous evening at your pop up restaurant in Shrivenham.  Everything exceeded my expectations; super friendly staff, gorgeous green silk table runners, fresh & delicious food plus a little explanation about each dish.  I enjoyed every item on the menu although I think the chicken and butternut curry was the favourite, or maybe it was the tofu with tamarind, chilli and coriander sauce.  There was a great atmosphere in the hall and it was clear other people were also appreciating your excellent service.  Many thanks for a splendid event.”

Having met Aung and Sally (and son) at the “Taste Wiltshire” event in Urchfont I realised they were the perfect solution to feeding a mixed bag of former students who were coming to stay including those of Muslim, Turkish, Italian and Chinese descent and a spouse who cannot take chilli. Aung managed to source a halal chicken and served roasted chilli flakes separately from a mild curry so we could season as we preferred. Aung is a real pro with a very slick operation, familiarised himself with our kitchen in about 5 minutes flat and all was ready in about 40 minutes. Then a quick run through the flavour combinations and he left us to an epic banquet. It was much more restful for me not to cook for seven and a lot cheaper than taking them out to a restaurant with all the attendant travel inconvenience.

One of my better decisions!

“The meal last night was fabulous, I don’t know how you managed it all. Really enjoyed the lamb curry, beautifully tender and subtly flavoured. Great idea for a community meal.  Thank you.”

“What a super evening last night in Holt.  The food was exceptionally good and the ambience was warm and friendly.  Our first real experience of Burmese food and we loved it.  We shared a table and met some new and interesting people who made it special.   Thank you to Aung, Sally and the very professional team for such a great time – more pop ups in Wiltshire please!”

“This is just a big thank from me and my guests to you both and your team. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening and are still talking about the flavours and textures of Burmese food. It goes without saying that we all thought it was delicious and were equally impressed by the service and descriptions of what we were offered.

Again many thanks to you all”

“Our cooking class was a delight.  The chef is not only knowledgable and skilled; he’s also both patient and engaging.  We recommend it to beginning or experienced cooks.”

“The three of us had such a great afternoon learning to cook Burmese dishes from you. The kitchen is beautifully organised, Aung’s professional expertise, humour and tales of Burma helped make it a real learning experience. We loved the pickled tea snack as well as the three dishes Aung taught us. Thank you so much.”

“An outstanding buffet on our patio cooked and served by a most efficient and friendly family team. Rave comments from everyone, both meat eaters and vegetarians.

We had a lovely happy day and thank you again for arranging everything so well.”

“We loved the meal!  Delicious food and quite unlike any we have had before.  We had no idea what Burmese food would be like and we’ve come away as fans!  The serving staff were also very good.  I was delighted to see you had your full capacity that evening and really hope that you come back soon.”

“Another huge thanks to you for a brilliant evening…WE LOVED IT! Paul was so touched by the whole experience. He loved our table for two, the delicious food, the fact that he could take his own beer, the surprise birthday cake and balloon – you presented all that so wonderfully – he had no idea that the surprise was for him!  It really helped make his 60th birthday weekend super special.

We are telling everyone about the Burmese pop up restaurant…and encouraging people to come along….we’ll be back soon too.”

Aung was as delightful as the food we had discussed and he created for my 70th birthday celebration.

Our guests applauded each dish as they ate it.

They also enjoyed the opportunity to talk to and learn from Aung as he cooked and some are keen to follow up with lessons.

Every element of Yatha’s contribution was good: initial consultation, agreement on menu and price, delicious food made with quality ingredients by a skilled, knowledgeable  and charming chef.

“I was very impressed with how professional everything was for our cooking lesson — the kitchen, our aprons, our teacher, the presentation after we’d cooked the meal, and the envelope with all the recipes. This was vastly superior to watching a cooking lesson on TV! There’s no substitute for putting what you’re learning into practice.”

“Just a short note to say that our first experience with Yatha was absolutely first class.  The food, atmosphere, warmth of service and sheer professionalism was brilliant.  We will most definitely be coming again to one of your catering miracles in the not too distant future.”

“I felt that Aung did everything possible to make the lesson enjoyable. He communicated his expertise as a chef, in a friendly and approachable way, and it was easy to try and copy his skills. I would recommend the cookery lesson, and I have already.

Thank you Aung for being our favourite chef.  We will be back.”

“The afternoon was a real treat! Aung is friendly and reassuring and I felt at ease immediately. The dishes cooked were absolutely delicious and I shall totally recommend the whole experience to family and friends. The preparation and cooking was well-organised, informative and easy to follow, Aung providing recipe cards so no need to take notes. I enjoyed the fact that we sat together and ate and chatted, with Aung serving the perfect accompaniment of Burmese tea.  It was also kind of him to provide boxes for us to take the remaining food home; a huge thumbs up from my husband for the chicken saté, lamb coconut curry and mango salad!
